چکیده

This paper proposes four methods and empirical formulas of adjusting characteristic impedances for thin-metal mesh transmission lines. The are discretely adjusted by changing the number size unit meshes, which provides macro-tuning capability, discrete values can be tuned more precisely varying line width aspect ratio geometry. validity proposed is confirmed full-wave numerical simulations, simulated impedance variations well-described our formulas. For further verifications, 26 distinguished samples lines a 28-GHz antenna fabricated, their characteristics measured in millimeter-wave spectrums. results confirm that provide accurate flexible design rules adjustment, allows potential advances display-integrated applications.

Theoretical analysis of the characteristic impedance in metal-insulator-metal plasmonic transmission lines.

We propose a closed form formulation for the impedance of the metal-insulator-metal (MIM) plasmonic transmission lines by solving the Maxwell's equations. We provide approximations for thin and thick insulator layers sandwiched between metallic layers. In the case of very thin dielectric layer, the surface waves on both interfaces are strongly coupled resulting in an almost linear dependence of...

Reconfigurable Antennas in mmWave MIMO Systems

The key obstacle to achieving the full potential of the millimeter wave (mmWave) band has been the poor propagation characteristics of wireless signals in this band. One approach to overcome this issue is to use antennas that can support higher gains while providing beam adaptability and diversity, i.e., reconfigurable antennas. In this article, we present a new architecture for mmWave multiple...

An assessment on the accuracy of time-domain reflectometry for measuring the characteristic impedance of transmission lines

An assessment of time-domain reflectometry (TDR) for measuring the characteristic impedance ZTL of transmission lines is performed. The assessment includes the accuracy of measuring ZTL as a function of TDR electrical impedance Zo, the ability to measure impedance perturbations as a function of ZTL and Zo, and the ability to differentiate between transmission lines of similar ZTL. The informati...

Effective Internal Impedance Method for Series Impedance Calculations of Lossy Transmission Lines: Comparison to Standard Impedance Boundary Condition

A new impedance boundary condition method for calculating the series impedance of lossy quasi-TEM transmission lines is presented. Previous techniques using a more standard impedance boundary condition are typically limited to high frequency where the impedance boundary conditions can be easily approximated due to its localized characteristics in that limit. The new impedance boundary condition...
